CM Revanth Condoles Death of Sitaram Yechury

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy expressed shock at the death of CPI (M) National General Secretary Sitaram Yechury, who died on Thursday after battling an acute respiratory illness. The veteran leader was 72 and was admitted to Delhi's All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
In a release here, the Chief Minister conveyed his condolences to the family members of Sitaram Yechury and said Yechury's struggles are always inspiring, adding that his death is a huge loss for the country's politics.
"Yechury, who entered politics from the student stage, has been active in national politics for nearly four decades. As Rajya Sabha MP, CPM Politburo Member, Economist and social worker, he is known to everyone in the country," Revanth Reddy said.
Born on August 12, 1952 in Chennai, Yechury studied in Delhi University during graduation and completed post-graduation from Jawaharlal Nehru University. He is survived by his wife Seema Chishti Yechury and two children.
A member of the Politburo, CPM's top decision-making body, for over three decades, Yechury was a member of the Rajya Sabha from 2005 to 2017. Yechury has been CPI(M)‘s general secretary since 2015 and was re-elected for another term in 2018.
